They are said to be a good/choice edible, but my rule is if I am only 99% sure, that's not sure enough... What are the possible look-alikes? These were growing under mature oaks in Northern MN. If it does not not stain blue and does not have red/orange pores, and even if you aren't the other 1% sure, even if it is not a chestnut.....your pretty much good to go provided it is not an orange cap....well, guess that is still up for debate Since sillytown is gone maybe we can pick up some slack in here Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
