Ecoboost "moaning"

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue:

2013 SCREW 4x4 6.5 bed, 15K

Intermittently, when in 3-5th gear, I get a "moan" from up front somewhere. It doesn't change pitch and I haven't pinned down a consistent set of circumstances. It will also happen when shifting from drive to park, but again, intermittent.

Anyone else getting this or have any information on a fix?

Thanks,

Mike Wallace

Had it at dealer twice and it, of course, wouldn't make any noises. 2nd time, left it overnight.

Dealer couldn't verify my noise in the 3-4 transmission range. They did, however, hear the same noise when it was going from P to D and D to R.

That noise had a TSB (14-0134) Valve Body Separator Plate. Seemed to have fixed the other problem as well...for now.

Has your Eco-Boost or anyones ever had a sputter/chug when giving it gas.

I have a mechanic friend and he said it could be and heard that the eco-boost have had a "waste gate" (turbo valve) problem? ANyone had this problem??

Thanks

Any ideas I need to get it fixed before winter

How I understand it, the Charge Air Cooler is storing water condensation. When you gun it, it sucks in that water, which causes a misfire. It can also lead to catalytic converter damage.

The solution is some possible modification of the C.A.C. (or replacement) and a reprogramming of the PCM.(Power-train Control Module)

(this is following a TSB(s)

33,000 miles.

Driving it today....in town stop and go..every stop light it acts up

1 week ago I had it in to have the dealer change oil and hook up the computer. Nothing came up on the computer. They did install some guard by the inter cooler for $50..

MY wife and I are having our second child today(sitting and waiting now.....) So I will have some time off hopefully next week to schedule something with the dealer.

2013 models should have came with the new intercooler deflector already, if I'm not mistaken.

edit - didn't realize two people commenting with issues. My response was directed to landscaper, but I see it is Mike Wallace with the 2013. I've not experienced any Moan with my 2013.
