FHFO
I would like to have satelite in my fish house. I have cable at home. But my son has direct and can get me an extra receiver and card. I have a DP 500 Dish brand dish. I don't know if I can use the two together? Or I will buy a Direct dish on hsolist . Any clues?
harvey lee
I do not know if they will mix but I would guess that if you placed a wanted add in about any newspaper, someone has a direst dish laying around. I think I have 3 of them in my attic, don't know why I do not throw them away.people switch back and forth and I would have to think many have one lying around somewhere.Too bad you are not closer to me, I would give you one. minnesotathorn
I had a dish that cranked up on the roof of my house & used it for both dish tv & direct. just had to have a receiver from the right company. d
JSK76
Anyone have any experience with the Dish Network Tailgater? Finds the satellite automatically is what interest me. I just wonder how level does it have to be? Would you have to shovel down to bare ice? And I was told there was some issues with the fluid in the level freezing up but just to keep it warm in your truck until you put it out and once it's locked into a satellite it didn't matter if the level froze up. Lip_Ripper Guy
I know of a few people with them and from what they say, they work great. I would for sure use one of those rather than fiddle F around with the crank up.
JSK76
I had standard dish mounted on the front of my fish house and got so fed up with aiming it in the cold, making sure I was pointing the house in the right direction before lowering it to the ice. Mine also would also creak in the wind and the sound drove me nuts at night when trying to sleep. I move my house a lot so it was a bigger deal. This winter I'm going with the tailgater and adding the $7.00 Rv package to my subscription.
Nisswaguy
As previously stated, you can not mix and match Direct and Dish. It has to be one in the same. For me, after a year of dilly-dallying around with the roof mounted satellite dish, I decided to get a Dish Tailgater last fall. I haven't been more pleased!! When I'm not using it for ice fishing in the winter, I'm using it on rainy days in the camper in the summer (if I have a clear view of the SW sky), or in my garage at home. The thing is awesome! You don't have to scrape down to clear ice to be perfectly level. Good enough is good enough. I've used it in below zero temps without any issues. It's definitely worth it's very reasonable (my opinion) price!I have no allegiance to Dish or Direct. I chose Dish for my home and for my fishhouse so I can get HD in the fishhouse/camper year-round. I believe with Direct, you can't get HD in your fishouse unless you have the very expensive 3-LNB dish.I hope this helps.
