icehole10
That is a real different idea for the wheel set? Looks like a ball and hitch release after you jack up the house a bit? Huum. I have never seen one of these in person, so looking at the picture. Is the coupler the pivot point, or do you release the coupler to drop it down? Either way, im with the guys who say this is a bad idea. Is there at least a safety pin once you have it in place. What is going to happen when there is a little bit of road debris or ice on the ball ,or in the coupler. Get out the hammer and start beating on the latch!! One more question, is the ball mounted to an aluminum angle? It sure looks like it in the picture.
rwk
Wow. Lots of comments on the ball coupler with no facts to back up. Do some research before you post Looks like a nice setup to me I would have no concerns after what I've done to trailer couplers behind my truck, atv and tractor. As far as the aluminum it is only as strong as the weld but most snowmobile trailers are aluminum and you don't see them broken in half all over the place. Believe me I've tried to break mine. To original poster I hope you have many years of enjoyment out of your fish house and don't let a few negative people discourage you (always a few haters). Mike89
I still think the Firebrand is rock solid too.
RangerZ
For the people who don't believe in the ball and tongue design.... If you do some research the test rating for a DOT rated trailer tongue whether its on a trailer, boat or ice house they rate them for the upward vertical excursion and pressure applied in this upward motion. bASS_BLASTER
I have the Firebrand 8x16 Toy Hauler. I haul a 2 up snowmobile and an Atv on different occasions with tons of gear. Hasn't failed me yet. Love this thing! If I could to do it all over again, the only things I would add are electric bed lifts and remote control jacks. CaptainMusky
Granted I haven't seen one up close just the pics/vids on the HSOforum but it looks to me all the force isn't out on the coupler at all. I would think its a very durable system based on what I can see.
