any idea on bass fishing on peltier? size? abundance?

Drove by for the first time after fishing on the croix. The mndnr survey dosnt talk much about LMB on peltier or the lake connected to it on the south side. What about the other ones surounding peltier? From the survey theirs quite a bit of bowfin, I would love to do some American snake head fishing LOL thanks in advance

With lake surveys, unless they include electrofishing data, which they don't always do, you have to kind of read between the lines to get a sense of the bass populations. Bass don't survey especially well with traditional gear (neither do crappies) so it's a little bit of guesswork. If the other species that typically show up in lakes with a good bass population, that can tell you something too.

Probably worth a scouting trip just for the dogfish alone. Doggos are a riot. smile

oh wow really, seen alot of ppl on shore fishing and guys on small john boats must have been a good crappie bit since all I saw were bobbers so far I been fishing crooked lake, ham lake, coon lake, and other various lakes in anoka county for bass the past year trying to find new places with bass, but also bowfin im eager to target as well

easy th64--- What RK was saying was while its good to get information from lake surveys, you do have to take them for what they are worth. It was good advice. Like he states, if the lake has a decent sunfish population, there is a good chance it has an alright bass population.

It used to be a decent bass lake, I have not fished it in quite a few years. I would be careful though with it after this last winter. It has a very similar make up to a lot of lakes that got hit hard with winter kill. Only one real way to know for sure, and that is to give it a shot some day.

If Peltier had a pretty good winterkill 3 years ago it had an even better one this year, besides 3 years is not long enough to grow anything big or even biggish-don't want to sound negative, their are a lot of very good bass lakes in the metro what are you looking for?

Im just interested looks like a neat lake. I just had a newborn not going to have time and the funds to go far anymore plus I have a new kayak mostly looking at nearby lakes in anoka county I plan to be fishing Coon Lake Ham Lake Crooked Lake ponds in blaine that stuff.

Crooked is nice with quality bass but terrible weekend warrior dads with speed boats and jet skis. Its not right to floor it on a jet ski 20 yards away from a guy in a canoe I felt bad for him he was calm though if it were me Id flip.

Im really curious on what lakes are winter killed, the ones I listed for the most part have airators in them so they should have lived. Hows the chain of lakes in Chisago? maybe if the wife is nice I can go paddle and fish those on bass openner in exchange for diaper duty for a week.

Chisago can be a lot of fun but I would think that the weekend warriors would be as bad there as on any other lake, especially on a holiday weekend..

You may be better off negotiating for a weekday out there instead if you want to avoid the crowds.

Congrats on the sprout, by the way!

Peltier and George Watch are where I go when I want to catch 3'' long LMB on my fly rod. It's a ton of fun for me to catch the smallest fish that I can, and I have success below the dam leading out of Peltier. The tiny LMB and even smaller panfish must be coming from somewhere, but I haven't hooked anything substantial there other than some pike on the fly rod.

Caveat: Most of my fishing is in George Watch, but I venture into Peltier from time to time.

I fish it because it's close and convenient. Winter has been rough on the fish, I haven't seen a live carp below the peltier dam for the past 2 years. The bullheads are going strong! They even will take a fly sometimes.

I have heard great things about crooked-I would look for lakes without a boat launch if I was fishing out of a kayak (granted that whole gig is trickier after this last winterkill) Ive heard Moore can be good and I've never seen a jet ski out there.

Moore is a no wake Lake its a decent small lake Im curious of the other side but dnr shows the other side as a entire 5 foot lake with no listed fish activity but Im thinking in the summer when everyone is at the beach and on shore fishing were are all the fish going to go? the other side there must have to be something their! I almost paddled over to the other side but as soon as i reached the tunnel that goes under hwy 65 to the other side I thaught naw I rather not get attacked by all these birds and a million spiders
