Boat Prop?

Anyone know what the difference between a merc prop listed #48 77344 A40L 17P to the same prop but listed as A45L ?

are the two interchangeable?

I am looking at getting an additional prop as a spare but not sure what all the numbers mean or which props would be interchangeable.

I searched both prop's online and the only difference I can find is the A45 is for a 75-125hp Merc motor and the a40L is for a 80hp motor. Both 17pitch props.

I would give Jay at Soderbloom's in Cromwell, MN a call as he could tell you the exact difference for sure, he also sells and reapirs props and could have a good used one for sale also.

Merc had several different hubs/lower units over the years. Could that be the difference?

The pictures I looked at looked like they could have had different hub designs but the pic was not good enough to tell the difference.
