Best new 25 hp outboard

Looking to buy a new outboard for my 14 foot Lund Rebel. I've looked at the Evinrude Etec, Yamaha and Mercury. Any input would be appreciated. Really like the Etec.

25 horse, well here is my take:

Yamaha and Honda are still using carburetors.

Mecury has a EFI, but requires battery.

Suzuki DF25A has batteryless fuel injection

The ETEC 25HP has been a workhorse also.

I wouldn't hesitate to go with Suzuki or BRP.

I researched this quite a bit. The thing that really jumped out at me was that the E-tec has a way bigger alternator capacity compared to the others.

I would also take into account the location of the dealers and service. Having a brand that has service available that is convenient to where you live, and where you fish is important.

Oh, and personally, everyone I know who has a Suzuki motor is very happy with it, for what that is worth.

In a 25 hourse 4 stroke my pics would be Yamaha, Suzuki, E tech them Mercury.

If Yamaha would make the F25 with EFI I could recommend it more. no reason for a carb on there when all of your competition is doing EFI already at the 25 level (besides Honda)

If you're able to go to 30hp yammie has efi.

Etec is the best their is hands and feet down.

my pic would be a chevy then a dodge then a toyota then a ford.

Just saying. Pick out which one you think your going to like best and has a reputable dealer close by if you need repair work.

I will say my friend just bought a 20hp merc and has had nothing but problems with it. But every brand has a lemon now and then.

I went from a four stroke merc 25 to an etec 40 on 14' my Lund Classic. If I had to stay at 25hp and planned on loading the boat down ever, I'd go with an etec again simply for the 2-stroke acceleration.

Go with what you like!! I had a 14' aluminum with an 18 horse on it and at wide open throttle with my gear and me in the boat the only thing that was in the water was the prop!!!
