Flying with archery gear

Alright, here goes nothing. In may, I am flying to Alaska for a bear hunt. Sweet huh?!! Here's my dilemma. I bought an skb 3614 parallel limb bow case. However, my destroyer is 1/2" too long. It would fit in the next size up, however, delta, as well as others, say a L+W+H measurement can't exceed 62", with out being slapped $125 each way for oversized luggage. What does a guy do? Chance they don't measure the case? Ship it ups, fedex, or the like? If so, have any of you have any experience doing just that?

vister, first of all, I'm extremely jealous!!! I have no personal experience with flying with archery gear. However, I've heard so many horror stories that if I were in your shoes I wouldn't even think twice about it- I'd FedEx it up there. I'd do it in time to ensure that you know 100% for sure that it's where it's supposed to be before you even leave for the trip. It'll save you money and it'll give you peace of mind. I don't know if that's the best way to do it, but that's what I'd do.

Fed ex. Wait til you have to bring the bear home!!! I've flown four elk home, three were before the really expensive baggage rates were in place. I think the last one, antlers and cape, no meat cost me almost $400.

I've read it costs roughly $20-$30 in US lower 48 to ship it. I'm sure more to Alaska. Lucky for me, I have brothers living in anchorage I can ship it to. So today I am taking the case back. Dang it, even never using the case, I absolutely loved it.
