How do spawning carp affect bass?

I gish a metro lake alot during the summer that holds really nice populations of bass. I can always seem to catch a bunch of nice bass in the shallows all day long, but when the carp start to spawn they just seem to vanish. And then a couple days after the carp are done, they are back. Where do they go? anyone else have this problem? I cant seem to find thm just outside of the shallows either. Do they go and suspend in the middle of the lake?

I know exactly what you are talking about but also do not know the answer. I always figured because of all the rooting and churning activity they do, it keeps other fish away, but where to i dunno.

I remember reading on here some where that spawing carp are territorial (spelling?) I wonder if that's true. They sure make a lot of noise splashing around.

In most cases the bass do not leave when the carp start spawning. Bass are pretty agressive and can and will chase carp away. In fact when bass are spawning they are always keeping the carp away.

Most likely they are less willing to feed when everything gets all muddied up.
