Arifitial Setup?

With Shiners hard to come by, how expensive they are and how we need to now dump them or place them in new water now. What are some other options for guys for spring time or opener. Are guys having much luck on frozen salted shiners? Gulp? What is your set up for when you run out of shiners or you could not get some at the bait shop for opener????

I have used Gulp with good success. Probably is affected by how aggressive the fish are and season.

I really like the BassAssasin line of plastics especially the paddle tails. In the spring I use them and Gulp a lot and both catch me plenty of fish. I really like that my hands stay warmer not digging for minnows. I have at times tipped them with a frozen shiner and that works as well.

Last several springs gulps has out fished live bait in my boat by a significant margin. We still pick up minnows but rarely end up using much of it.

Gulp works great for me, I especially like the splittail minnow styles, but also have started using some TriggerX. Can't say one is better, but the crazy looking bug thing (loks like a crawfish with more "wings") that TriggerX makes for bass is AWESOME!!!

I take my leftover minnows and freeze them. They die when you hook them on a jig anyways.
