slower or faster

Recommended Posts

Is it better to go slower over potholes or faster? If you're on a washboard road faster seems to smooth things out. So if you go faster and skip over the potholes are you likely to cause less damage to your vehicle? Of course there's always the risk of some huge crater that will jar the bejessus out of the rig but what about the standard 2 inch deep by 10 inch across one?

Easy answer is to avoid going over them. But that isnt possible. If it is tossing you around in the vehicle, and vibrating everything, it will loosen, and break stuff in a hurry. Rabbit bumps I find there is a magic speed to smooth them out, that is the best speed for the vehicle as well. But not the safest, since the tires are just riding over the top of the bumps, your tires can easily lose traction, and you can spin around.
