Double
I'd like to pick up a couple of quality baitcasters, and my questions is about gear ratio. I think I've decided on a Shimano Curado. I really like the feel of the super-free model, but that reel only comes in a 6.2:1 gear ratio. I fish mostly soft plastics (worms mostly) and jigs. Should I go with a 6.2:1 or 5:1 gear ratio? Thanks in advance for the help, Double
lakevet
I agree. Go with the 6.2:1. I can always crank slower if need be, but with your use it is great to quickly wind up line. The lures mentioned usually are moved by moving the rod.lakevet
smallmouthking
Good choice of reels, that super-free is so smooth, and i agree with everyone here in the 6.2:1 as your best choice.
Chev_trucks501
I Agree! With All the responses! Curado is an awesome reel. 6.2 is a good one for what you want it for... Good Luck Chev
Deitz Dittrich
if your going to be fishign soft plastics... Go with the 6.2-1... the reel is there only to pick up slack line.. so the extra line per handle turn will work just fine for you... the lower gear ratio reels are made for deep cranking and slow rolling spinners in my opinion!... I would get the 6.
