Ion Auger and Extension For Permanent Ice Shack

Just got the floor model 8" ION for $370-- pretty happy. Anyone finding it's too short w/ included extension to get thru ice drilling thru their floor? Are people doubling them up?

Same problem here when I use the slush bucket, I will be machining a 24" one to replace the one it comes with, I'm not thrilled about doubling up I'd just assume it's an extra point for minor binding or wiggle which can't be good for the auger

The new Clam one fits and works great. You might want to check it out. It's adjustable too.

must be talking about the clam 16" adjustable. Saw it in their catalog but not in person. Who carries them?

I just used mine on Red last weekend with the extension in my wheel house. This year I started to drill the holes before lowering the house (best tip I've ever got on this forum) and didn't use a slush bucket because doing this you don't need one. I didn't have any problems at all and the house sits about 10" to 12" off the ice before lowering it.

When you lowered the house did the holes line up?

I worried about that too, but no problems lining up.
