NC or CO?

This will be my 3rd year riding.

The group of riders I hang out with are planning 2 trips this year. I had a blast going with them on my first real group ride last year, to the Black hills and Sturgis on my V star 950.

1st trips in spring to the Smokey mtns of NC, and the Dragons tail as the highlight. Heard there are lots of curves, good roads, scenery. Can be busy though.

2nd trip in the fall is going to be out in CO, canyon sightseeing.

I would like to go to both, but will only be able to fund/have permission wink for one trip. Im leaning towards the CO trip, because it would be a nice end to a season theme.

Any of you guys been out those ways? Choose one over another?

CO would be my choice but always wanted to do the Dragon's Tail. Bad thing about CO is you have to keep an eye on the road on the mountain passes. Lots of fallen rock on some corners.

I took the family for a vacation out there in 2005 and the week after we left, a hiker came back to find his car was gone. A boulder broke free that was bigger than his car and landed on top of it. eek

I figured CO would be a lot like the twistys in the black hills, lots of blind corners and rubble. Crazy with the boulder. Would be sight to see dodging those.

Unfortunately the wife may require surgery this year... So all plans are off atm. Might just take a weekend getaway to Upper Michigan for now.
