polarsusd81
Saturday a couple buddies joined my son and I and went out to the lake. I had the GoPro camera set up on the underwater arm I put together with PCV tubing. I hooked into a decent northern on the rod I had rigged for perch and gills, cause why would it take the 4" shiner on the deadstick with some toothy critter leader material? My buddy quickly cleared his lines and my second line and we got the camera in the hole. The video turned out pretty awesome. The first run and release sequence were in slow-motion (1/2 speed). I did not do anything with the audio so it is not great, but still a blast on light line. Thorne Bros Custom 32" Power Noodle with outside Recoil guides, Okuma fly reel with thumb drag only, 2lb Stren Hi-Vis Mono.

leech~~
It's pretty neat the way the holes look like tubes in the ice.
polarsusd81
I think my favorite part is how the pike just swims off into the corner of the screen and disappears into the darkness under the ice.The rig I use for underwater is very simple PVC pipe and fittings. I might build another one that is a little lighter weight and less buoyant. This one is 4' long and made with 1" material, but it kinda bobs in the hole, thinking 3/4" material would be just about right.Oh yeah, there was a good amount of ice, and several inches of snow on top of it. We are heading up to LOTW in a couple weeks, really looking forward to using the rig up there.Take care,Tom
Mid-Lake Rock
Tom:Measurement or guess on the length of the fish? Looks like a good one. Nice video.

BartmanMN
Sweet video. Always cool seeing the ice hole 'tubes' from underneath the ice.
polarsusd81
Mid-lake, it was about 32". Didn't measure but had a 32" Power Noodle that I had just caught it on laying next to it for a second and it was pretty close to te same length. bboltjes
Hey Tom awesome video. Any chance you could post a picture of the pole setup you made. I'm sure I can figure out how to make one but why reinvent the wheel. Thanks
polarsusd81
Here you go. This is how I made it, but I would recommend using 3/4" PVC rather than 1". It bobs in the hole a bit with 1", too buoyant. If you are having trouble seeing it, use "Ctrl+" to zoom in and then "Ctrl-" to zoom back out.
