icecold
has anyone ever used or have the mallard or wood duck decoys from higdon, what do u think of them or how do they hold up,
Kettle
They are great looking decoys, if you don't handle them with kids gloves and use slot bags the paint will wear off after one season of solid use. The foam fill is nice but they just didn't hold up paint wise to the abuse I put them through. They are slightly heavier than normal decoys. I went with the GHG prograde for just my standard decoys and in my diver spread I am running old foamers.Kettle
fishuhalik
^this. Love em, but they don't hold up. I've got some painting to do, then they're going in slot bags for next year. Only got a dozen, & will be adding another 2 dozen this year
icecold
I have some magnum mallards on the way, I think i am going to spray them with a dull clearcoat as soon as i take them out of box. maybe will help keep them looking good for a season
bassmann77
I picked up a dozen foam filled bluebills at the end of the season. Hoping they will hold up. They are in a slotted bag with two per slot, so maybe they will make it. I also am running the keel weights on all my decoys so that should help also. Kettle
I think as long as you keep them in slotted bags and keep them outta the ice they will work for you. Their January Mallards look fantastic. If I was more of a field hunter their decoys would be in my mix. Don't overlook other options for decoys, sometimes some extra money up front will be money well spent. Happy HuntingKettle
