jasonmichalski
I just finished forging a perch and pike spear set for a friend to use on Lake Saint Clair, it turned out pretty good. In MI you can spear perch on lake Saint Clair only.
MJ1657
Looks good Jason. Have you ever speared perch? I would like to hear about that perch spearing.
jasonmichalski
No not yet one of those days I'll make a trip down there lake saint Clair is about 4 hours south of me. Most of the guys only spear the big jumbos that won't bite because I've been told once you spear a perch the school leaves, I just made 4 decoys for the same guy and he had my make him a smaller decoy for perch. minky
Those are some nice spears! How much time do you have into each one?
jasonmichalski
the perch spear was a first took some time to figure the numbers out but probably 8 hours, the pike spear close to 8 hours, not including making my own charcoal which involves, cutting wood and burning off the wood. its a labor of love, lol! pikestabber
That looks to be a barb-less spear for the perch, correct? Is that mandated by law, or is it to remove them more easily without damaging too much meat?
