mnhunter2
I have a strikelite with the robin engine, starts fine when warm but is really cold blooded, it will fire but only after 20-25 pulls. I have set the idle up a little but still starts hard, any ideas?
Gus
Haven't had an issue with mine. Might take a couple extra pulls, but what doesn't? I just make sure to prime it good and make sure the fuel is coming back to the tank via the return hose with no bubbles before I even try to start it. Started Saturday after being in the truck all night in 6 pulls. Mine has always been pretty good though. It seems like some guys have ones that start well, and others are cold blooded. mnhunter2
A buddy left it in his fishouse and the temp was -27 below and I had to pull it a long time before it fired up, if you keep it in the backseat of the truck on the trip to the lake it starts first pull. dan z
Prime it a few timespull in the off position a few times. Prime some more turn "on" Should be running in a couple pulls. This is my sequence anyhow. I love my robin
CAMAN
For me it is turn on switch, prime 10x, set choke full on, put left hand on throttle and hold at about half throttle, pull rope. Should fire within 2 pulls but won't start. Set choke to half and half throttle while pulling rope, kind of hard to explain but once the motor fires let up on throttle, it will sound like it's going to die then feather throttle on and off a few times and it will eventually settle down and idle nicely. Let warm a few seconds and slowly move choke to off, may need to feather throttle a little but will eventually idle out and get drilling. Once the motor has started once for the day I can usually skip the first sequence and go directly to the half choke step.I rarely ever pull more than a half dozen times and usually if I do it's because I forgot a step. This weekend it took two pulls on Sunday to get it going and it had been sitting for a few days in the bed of my truck. I'm sure if I went out to my truck right now in -12deg it wouldn't take no more than 3 or 4 pulls. My Strikelite has been the absolute best auger I have ever used. NCLaker
A buddy left it in his fishouse and the temp was -27 below and I had to pull it a long time before it fired up, if you keep it in the backseat of the truck on the trip to the lake it starts first pull. Maybe not priming it enough, I primed mine 6-8 pumps on the bulb .. pretty much did what CANMAN does.Couple other key things:- Make sure you use fresh non-oxy gas. Those 4 strokes can run forever so gas can sit in them for a while. Old gas will definitely cause problems.- If you haven't had id tuned up in a while, bring it over to D-Rock they will do it up right.
