Heading down early March and want to fish somewhere there. Any suggestions on who to go with? Not after any certain species, just want some time on the water and maybe catch a few fish.

I was down in November and had a ton of fun just fishing off the bridges around Marathon. Took my own heavy spinning combo and spent <$50 on a license and bait.

Have fished the area many times for Tarpon on fly rod and also taken some other blistering fast species; Permit and Mutton snapper and even a couple small sharks. But that is obviously some specialized fishing.

In your case ask somebody in the hotel you use and they will point you to some docking areas where you can just wander and look for guide operators. There will be guys who can take you out for bottom species and if you have not caught warm-water ocean fish you're in for a treat. I would not bother dragging your own tackle down there...any decent operator will have what you need.

Can't help you with "on your own" fishing from shore etc. but I suspect you can find areas to catch some inshore stuff....small lady fish and even a few baby tarpon maybe.

Plenty of people down there to provide advise and guidance.

Check the docks when the boats come in and see who has the most fish, or are flying the most flags. Book with them.
