Suburban Heater Issue

I recently bought a new Ice Castle Stinger this year and have had issues with the furnace now twice in this cold weather(-15 or greater). This last spell the furnace worked great until midnight and i woke up to a cold house. I changed the tank and was careful to open the valve up slowly to prevent the check valve from closing but all it does is ignite for a few minutes and sometimes it runs for 10mins then it starts making a whining or almost whistling noise before it shuts off. It never makes this noise when its opereating normally which has been all year except during the extreme cold nights....now should just chalk it up to the extreme temps or is there a bigger issue here at play...gonna start by upgrading the stock regulator and see where it goes from there....just curious if anyone has had similar problems. There's a couple of threads in this forum that could be of some help.I think 1 is called "Suburban Furnace" trouble or issues or something like that.The other is about regulators freezing.Between furnace problems,tanks freezing, & regulators freezing this has been discussed at least a 1/2 doz times here.Just do a search(one on left,it works much better) on these topics & it may tell you where to start.Hope this helps

Yeah i forgot to mention i already read all the other threads concerning heater issues and none mentioned the whistling/whinning sound i had with mine...was hoping someone had similar experience but guess not...gonna upgrade the regulator and go from there.

No big deal here.I thought maybe you had,checked the other threads,when you mentioned opening the valve slowly.I too am surprised you didn't get some more posts as I thought there was another about whining or whistling.

Found it,"Forced Air Furnace Problem in Ice Castle" mentions whining/whistling.Not sure it will help but seen another thread about thermostats while searching (for Ice Castle furnace problems).Good luck

What size tanks?

yeah what size tanks? i have a house being dropped off today with a suburban 18k in it. i ran 2- 20 pounders on my last forced air in my old house, but am going to switch to 2- 30 pounders

I have two 30# tanks...gonna call suburban to see what they think....

I run (2) 30# tanks and haven't had an issue down to -40.
