cavalierowner
The end of February I'm going up to LOW. We will be in a sleeper (no power) for 3 full days, possibly into the fourth. I have two batteries for my Marcum LX-5 and I'm wondering if they will last for that long; I'm guessing it will be on for a good 10 hours each day. Marcum says I should be able to get 15 hours from a battery, depending how high the gain is turned up. I've started thinking about a solar charger. I can get a 1 amp (max size recommended by Marcum) for about $23 from HD. Has anyone ever used a solar charger? I know they work well at the outpost cabins for the Canadian fly-in outfitter I go with in the summer, but that's several steps up from what I'm looking at. Redlineracer12
I'd just bring a spare car battery I think if it were me.
fsnrod
I'd just bring a spare car battery I think if it were me. I've used a 12 volt jumper pac for three or four day's before I made a wire that pluged into lighter outlet and the other end pluged into depht finder wires bypassing the battery works good. cavalierowner
The problem is that the outfitter we are going with isn't on any road we can drive on, so they take us out on their Bombardiers and limit us on weight. So in order of priority (first to go) it's my nephew, a car battery and beer!!!

live4chrome
I have one somewhere I used to take to the BwCa and the nw territories. Worked well in the land of the midnight sun. I would just bring a spare. Pack it in your pocket if you are that concerned on weight. Marine general in Duluth usually has them for around 15$
