Vexilar FL-22 Problems.

MidCoast

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a Vexilar FL-22 for almost 2 years. It's been having some issues this ice fishing season. For one, the flasher always acts like it is having interference when it is the only flasher on. This makes it difficult to see my jig and fish, or even recognizing what is fish and not on the flasher. Secondly, it is a trimode, and the only setting that works for it is 9 degrees. The other two settings of 12 and 20 degrees doesn't work well at all.

Do you guys think it is the Vexilar unit that is the culprit or just the transducer itself? Any recommendations for service places?

Thanks.

like others have said the tri beams had problems. I ended up taking mine right to them in Bloomington and they gave me a new Pro View free of charge to replace it. there is a issue with them cracking on that red band where it meets the black. if the crack is not visible there will still be discoloration on the surface. contact them and they will take care of the problem. now my 22 works like it was new.

I am having almost the exact same issues as MidCoast, but i don't visually see the "cracking" described. So I'm sending mine in for them to look at.

In the meantime, I bought and tried the ProView. I was expecting to really like it, however I think i like the options of the tri-beam better. With the tri-beam I can fish two holes next to each other and both can use the flasher, but with the ProView I couldn't. When I turned up the gain to widen the beam, most of the screen just filled up solid and wasn't really viewable. That, and my jig seemed to be a HUGE mark on the screen. Tried it on low power setting too. Guess i just wasn't used to it.

Hoping my issue gets resolved and they send out a new tri-beam.
