Spent much of the day watching a barred owl hunt in our backyard, and witnessed the demise of three mice. The owl was accompanied by a pair of northern shrikes ... I suppose they were hoping for a free meal.

Yes ... it seems to hang around a bit. This is the first time, however, that we've witnessed the actual hunt. The first time we saw it was on Xmas day. Our neighbors across the street say they've seen it in their yard also.
