PurpleFloyd
What knot are you guys using on these snaps? If I could see what I was doing I would tell you, But then again if that was the case I wouldn't need them. I think it ends up being like a berkley knot. hotdogger
been using fas snaps for years.[love them].try snapping a jig on and then tieing to your snap. I use a palomar knot and never had a problem.definetly have to use needle nose pliers to put on and change jigs.
centralmnguy
Hey Up North2...you can only fish 2 lines at a time anyways. Why bring all your tackle with & the kitchen sink? I have one small tackle bag with maybe 20 lures tied up this way & 3 separate styrofoam wraps...one for walleyes...one for lakers...& one just some extras. Actually pretty convenient & I don't need to mess around with trying to get treble hooks untangled in the boxes etc. The only lure I do a direct tie on is the slick jig. I do the same for summer fishing & spinner baits & lindy rigs. The knot I tie is the clinch knot.
Chad Holst
upnorth, about the question/review on page 2... First, whoever wrote that review is a couple cables short of an operating elevator. I dont use the "no tie" fas-snaps. so there is a possibility that this happens, but looking at them online it seems like a pretty straight forward product. i just dont think the guy knew what he was doing. This is what the cable-less guy was talking about: This is what we are using: (and the same one that i use on my smallest jigs works just as good on the largest open water lures i use) Cabella's, home of the "everything is overpriced" sell's 20 of them for 1.99. So they are about the same price as 1 single bait. (wax worm/minnow) If thats expensive i'd hate to see what he thinks cheap is.
fsnrod
I've used them for at least a decade with no complaint. I have medium sized hands and "fight" to tie them on, too. Since I fish mainly with PP, I may only have to make a couple ties per season. As far as getting lures on and off, I've learned to move the lure to the opening and pull on the bottom of snap with needle nose to remove the lure. To get lures on, I just give a little tug on the line. Works for me and, as mentioned, I'm much more eager to change lures than I was before I started using them. What he said I've used fas-snaps for many years on jigs down to size 16 up to 3/8 oz.
