JBMasterAngler
Was actually planning on fishing Deer Lake today, but we couldn't find where vehicles were driving onto the ice, so with time dwindling we just went over to Balsam. Had no game plan, or knowledge of the lake. Didn't set up in the greatest spot, as we were very close to the snowmobile highway I caught 1 perch, and a rock! Yes, a marble sized rock! I marked some fish very tight to the bottom, may have been walleyes. Anyway, was very surprised at the lack of people out there. Is this lake just not a good winter lake? I thought for sure I would see "community spots" all over the place.
GSP4ME
We fished it last year in Feb. Right out by the narrows, 11 feet of water and did really well on the sunfish and crappies
B-man715
The fishing out there has been on the down-hill for the last couple winters. Walleyes are very hard to come by, too many bass in the lake. The crappies have also gotten a lot smaller the past few years. Better lakes to look at in the area.
