What's the main difference between the Terrova and PD2? Other than 10# thrust? Thanks!!

terrova is easier to deploy. it also gives you the ability to us the foot pedal if you install I Pilot or I Pilot Link. these are the big ones, I just can't remember the rest right now.

Can you still get a foot pedal separately for the PD? It seems to me that the price difference between the 2 is fairly significant considering the difference between the 2 units or am I missing something?

The terrova has a much better foot pedal than the V2. The Terrova easy deploy system also works much better than the one on the V2.

A huge advantage is to be able to keep your foot pedal when using the I-pilot. When the I-pilot is used with the V2 units the footpedal is then eliminated and the only option you have is the use of the remotes.

the steering head is also more robust on the terrova as well as the gearing in the head.

Personally I prefer the Terrova over the V2, but it is what is comfortable for you to use.

Didn't they re-do the autopilot for terrova? Not a big deal if you have ipilot.

I have a lighter aluminum 18' boat and the PD V2 55 lb works fine for my situation. The deploying is a bit of a pain at first but once you figure it out it's just fine. I never learned a trolling motor with a foot pedal, so the remote was fine for me. The first year I had the I-pilot and the 2nd year I changed the head to the I-pilot link system and I've never had a problem with the PD V2 but if I had a boat that was ANY heavier than my Crestliner Canadian 18' tiller I would upgrade to a higher thrust. It gets me into the 2.2 range at full thrust on a calm day, but when it's nasty it takes close to that to push 1.0 at times

I like the Terrova with the I-pilot. I run it from the back of the boat. If I get a fish the person up front takes over controlling the boat with foot petal.
