Lake Trout Options

I am interested in finding a place to fish either numbers or big Lakers through the ice. I would like to be within 10 hours of Minneapolis if anyone is willing to share. I and the group would prefer to do it on our own but lodging and some general lake knowledge would be nice to have. We have our own gear and a few years experience but we are up for the next level.

Lake Superior is not an option as I do not want to swim. We are considering LOW but are willing to travel a ways off the beaten path.

Some of Minnesota's best inland lake trout fishing is inside the BWCA. White Wilderness Sled Dog Adventures can get you there.

The south shore of Lake Superior holds some of the biggest lake trout around.
