Deet
My brother-in-law needs a new transducer for his FL-8. I agree with you - he should upgrade. But assuming that's not going to happen, can anyone answer these couple questions?- Which transducer originally comes with the FL-8? Or does this vary?- Is a new product like the switchable tri-beam Ice-Ducer even compatible with the FL-8? - How is the cone angle measured/named? I.e. is the 12 degree beam angle measured 12 degrees from "wall to wall" through the "cone", or 12 degrees from vertical to the "cone wall"?I would think the 12 degree cone would be best for his purposes (typically fishing 15 - 35 ft), while the switchable ice-ducer would be even better IF it works with his FL-8. I can't see why it wouldn't work. Can't seem to find compatibility info on Vexilar's HSOforum. Thanks for your help.
dirtymike
I'm sure someone on here will know but I would go directly to Vexilar's Customer Service.

BartmanMN
FL-8 comes with 19 degree. I agree the 12 degree is best general purpose cone angle and is reasonably priced. All Vexiliar ice ducers will work on his unit

Morgs
I have a 15 year old fl-8 and bought the tri-beam and it works great. Before I bought mine I searched all over for the best price I could find, and then went to Scheels and had them price match. Worked great. Got the price I wanted and didn't have to wait a week for it to show up.
