Pop/Up blinds

Recommended Posts

I use one. Downfall is poles in the way at times and if you don't elevated them you're at eye level and it limits the distance you can see deer. I built a 10 foot platform for mine.

On the plus side you have protection from the wind and elements. I hunt with a 13 year old and the blind allows us to sit out longer which as you know greatly increases your odds.

Downfall is you can't see that far unless your on a field edge or hill. Great for staying warm and concealing your movement. I put mine out a week before muzzy season so deer get used to it. Can hunt in any elements except heavy downpours. Will start to leak through but light rain, mist, sleet, snow or anything else you'll be dry. Lots of room in them too to stretch out. I love mine.

I sat in one last friday afternoon. Had it up about a month before the muzzy season. deer tracks all around it so they are use to it. -15 out so I brought a little heater with. Was able to sit almost 4 hours before my toes got to cold. never would have made it that long sitting up in a tree.

I like sitting in hub style for comfort when cold an rainy, draw back is less viewing capability. Tracks show they don't shy away from blind, but during lighted hours I think they tend to know its there and skirt around it a bit. Hate taking them down, I didn't get my engineering degree yet so figuring out which set of legs go where when folding is a pain.

You took the time and effort to build 1/2 of a tower blind.

I wasn't sure I wanted an enclosed stand in that spot. I can have what's there tore down in a matter of a few minutes if I don't want it there.

After my 13 year old missing a deer a half hour into season and me taking one a minute later and numerous deer walk by on another morning I have decided to complete it for next year.

Total time and effort involved was one afternoon of two kids having a blast building it.
