holmsvc
How do you adjust the spool tension on these? I have always had HT tipups, but found a good deal on frabill tipups. I can't even get the flag to stay down on this one. My buddy has a few frabill tipups and if anything his spin too hard.
20lbSloughShark
I assume you have the kind with a plastic top for the trigger, then your kind of out of luck. There are a few things you can do. You can find a heavier duty spring and replace the one that's on it. A quick fix is to stuff something under the end of the flag to push up on it, making it harder to go off. I've never had that kind, but I imagine you can use a circular file to cut a groove in the plastic for the flag to ride in.
holmsvc
Ya I was thinking I'd have to notch the plastic.
ZachD
You have to pull the spool down so the t where you set the flage is almost touching the top of the tip up
ZachD
You have to pull the spool down so the t where you set the flage is almost touching the top of the tip up you have to slide it down when you first set it up and when you put it away you slide it back up so it can fit in the square it tucks away in..... If you are talking about the frabil thermals that is

holmsvc
I tried pulling down on it earlier ,but didn't pull hard enough. I was being too careful not to break it.
ZachD
I tried pulling down on it earlier ,but didn't pull hard enough. I was being too careful not to break it. I usually have to hit it with the palm of my hand to get it back up so i can put them away at the end of the day.... I am guessing it works now? ZachD
No problem incase you didn't know on the part where you set the flag under there is one side that has a angle cut in it. If you set it under that one it is for more sensitive bite. Walleye and such the other side wont trip the flag as easy northern pike and such. JbuZZo
wow...thank you. I bought 2 of these last year and thought they were junk. I didn't pull the spool down. Awesome. I didn't waste my money! thanks guys.
mjk
The new Pro Thermals are junk. I've been fishing with them since the 2nd year they came out. I got lucky last winter, and found 3 unused originals on a list by the name of Craig. My suggestion (and be careful!), is to take a file, and make a small notch on one side of the trigger. Another possibility is to run some electrician's tape around 1 side, making it harder to trip....
