servocam
Mine does not. I do have a burner on my grill that whistles. I just turn it off and then back on and it is good to go. I didn't see anything in the manual about it: http://www.mrheater.com/upload/newsletter/MH18B_BigBuddy_US_BL.pdf Are you using 1# cylinders or 20# tank (or other) via hose? 20lbSloughShark
Mine always does it, if I happen to get it to light. They are junk.
JeffB
Can anyone answer how long the big buddy will run on a 1 lb tank. I just bought one and haven't used it yet. Debating on whether to buy the hose and filter right away.
castmaster
20# tank with hose and filter Get rid of that hose and the filter and go to one of the quick connect hoses that eliminates the need for the filter. Those filters cause nothing but trouble IMO. Debating on whether to buy the hose and filter right away. I'd only give the Big Buddy a couple hours on a single 1 pound tank (on Low/Medium). Usually take four tanks for an entire day trip. Running the fan makes a big difference when you're in a portable. My gut tells me I'm going to end up using my sunflower heater again some day. Rick G
Can anyone answer how long the big buddy will run on a 1 lb tank. I just bought one and haven't used it yet. Debating on whether to buy the hose and filter right away. On low setting I get about 7 hrs out of two one lb tanks. To answer the original question, no mine has never made any sort of noise. Infact out of all the people I know with the buddy heaters ( maybe 20 people) only one person has had problems of any sort with their heater. J_D
X2, in fact last winter on a -25 below morning on LOW I had to warm up my buddies sunflower with my big buddy to get it to start. I've had mine 2 years with no issues.
servocam
20# tank with hose and filter Try it w/ 1# tank. If doesn't do it, then probably an issue w/ your hose/filter.BTW, I have had mine for 4 years and never any issues.
20lbSloughShark
Mine was pretty consistent; it would go out at 3 hours on high.
cavalierowner
Does anybody else's big buddy whistle when using it ? I did all the cleaning tips that they tell you to do still does it and is slow to light Have you tried sending the question to the manufacturer? I had a problem with my Portable Buddy once and sent them a question via (I think) their HSOforum. They answered within a day and it was an easy fix.
