Big Buddy heater?

Mine does not. I do have a burner on my grill that whistles. I just turn it off and then back on and it is good to go. I didn't see anything in the manual about it: http://www.mrheater.com/upload/newsletter/MH18B_BigBuddy_US_BL.pdf

Are you using 1# cylinders or 20# tank (or other) via hose?

Can anyone answer how long the big buddy will run on a 1 lb tank. I just bought one and haven't used it yet. Debating on whether to buy the hose and filter right away.

I'd only give the Big Buddy a couple hours on a single 1 pound tank (on Low/Medium). Usually take four tanks for an entire day trip. Running the fan makes a big difference when you're in a portable. My gut tells me I'm going to end up using my sunflower heater again some day.

On low setting I get about 7 hrs out of two one lb tanks.

To answer the original question, no mine has never made any sort of noise. Infact out of all the people I know with the buddy heaters ( maybe 20 people) only one person has had problems of any sort with their heater.

Does anybody else's big buddy whistle when using it ? I did all the cleaning tips that they tell you to do still does it and is slow to light

Have you tried sending the question to the manufacturer? I had a problem with my Portable Buddy once and sent them a question via (I think) their HSOforum. They answered within a day and it was an easy fix.
