Have to insulate garage by Monday, help!!

I bowl with a guy that does sheetrock and he had a cancelation on Monday so I gotta clean the garage out and insulate it this weekend. Couple questions,

1. Wall attached to house is done. Going to use the insulation with paper backing and staple. Do I need a Vapor barrier?

2. What r value should I use?

3. He is going to rock the ceiling. Anything I have to do to prep that? I was going to blow insulation up there after the install.

Any other tips greatly appreciated.

Garages don't "need" a vapor barrier since there is already a ton of airflow in them. But the paper faced is already considered a vapor barrier so you're good there. For the ceiling I would install a 6 mil poly vapor barrier since you've got it open.

I'd assume you've got 2x4 walls in there so going with the standard R11 kraft faced will be what you go with. They are cut for standard 2x4x16OC stud bays.

I know this is late, but you can get R13 kraft faced for 2x4 space. Hoem Depot has it, where Menards did not. That is what I used in my garage.

Menards in S. metro have r13 craft. Rolls and batts.....They've also got R15 craft for 2x4 space. Glad I don't live by your Menards.

Sorry, you are right, I meant R15, not R13. I used the R15.

I know its way to late know but spray foam the only way to go expensive as hell but well worth it for your next prodject
