ClownColor, Good question, somewhere on this site they said Napa in Prior Lake, I picked up a couple bottles of Amzoil Saber in Redwood Falls, as for breaking in the tanaka I have heard a tank of non-oxy mixed 50:1 followed by a tank of 80:1 and then 100:1 after that, but I don't really know for sure... so if anyone has a definate to this question I too would appreciate.. Thanks and Happy Fishing..

Last year I hym and hawed about what to get for a light and fast auger so I made my own. I bought a gas powered drill and adapted a 7" lazer hand auger to it. Weight wise it comes in around 16-17lbs. I was very impressed with it last year for how fast it worked and the light weight when I drill a ton of holes. I am guessing I easily drilled over 500 holes with it and on the last day my adapter twisted off. So this year I had a adapter made from solid stainless steel and that should fix that problem. Yes its a two stroke but I'm o.k. with that when the weight is a bigger issue than fumes when drilling a ton of holes walking through snow.

I'll add my experience to what CamozKool recommends. Try to run that first tank of 50:1 amsoil through without the auger bit/flighting attached. I strapped mine to a 5 gallon pail and let it idle for a few hours, went out and revved it to full speed every 10-15 minutes.

I would NOT recommend trying to cut holes with amsoil mixed 50:1. I did this with my dad's Tanaka/Nils when it was new and had a lot of issues. The motor simply did not have enough power and would bog down and get stuck half way through drilling a hole.

I dumped the 50:1 mix and went to 80:1 and have never had that problem in 5 years since. The lack of power was remedied immediately by getting rid of the 50:1 so I know that was the issue.

I have one on order and the word that I am hearing is this will be the auger that you want to be running when you hit the ice. No other auger is offering a 7 year warranty that alone says this product is built like a rock!!! Hurry up ice get here let the ice season begin.

I personally wouldn't mix Amsoil at 100:1, it's too easy to be off a little bit when your only mixing up a gallon. I'd stick to the around the 80:1 ratio, gives you a little fudge factor. I don't think your going to notice any "performance" issues..

Same here, 80:1. I ran 100:1 once, but then switched to 80:1 just in case.
