Sturgeon spearing!

I just picked up a sturgeon spear a few weeks ago and I'm planing on trying to spear a sturgeon this winter on Black lake here in michigan this year the season opens the 2nd of February and runs to the quota is reached, last year it took three days. Has anyone here every sturgeon speared or planing on trying it this winter?

Never really had a desire to spear one, the videos are sweet, and those spears are HUGE!!!

yeah some of the spears are crazy how big they are this one weighs a little over 16lbs. I've got two other guys going, one to help fight the fish and get it up the hole and one to run the cam. the lake is known for monster muskies so that's an option too, your allowed one a year here in Michigan.

Can out of state people spear muskies also???

Yes, one a year, up intill last spring it was one a day, now you need your fishing permit and a musky tag every permit holder can get one free tag a year when they buy there permit

no, everyone in my group backed out and its 3 hours from me so I wasn't going alone, I have a friend that's local to the Black lake area, that is going to help me next season, he got a 70lbs fish this season.
