Cleaning A Mouse Nest Out of Snowmobile Air Intake

SkunkedAgain

Recommended Posts

I went to start my 97 Polaris yesterday and found that a mouse had eaten through the foam air filter and filled the void between the foam and plastic grate with a nest. I pulled out all of the loose stuff but there is debris that got below the plastic grate.

How can I get that part removed so that I can clean it more thoroughly. I'm not great with motors, but assume that if I tried to start the thing its going to suck mouse nest stuff into the cylinders.

Anyone ever dealt with this before?

In the meantime, I stuff some steel wool into the intake just like I've always done for the exhaust port.

I would say pull the air box (sucks) and clean it out. Vacuuming or blowing with air pressure doesn't always get everything and you will be sucking it in to the carb. Next year duct tape every opening closed when you store it. wink
