maros91
What do you guys do to your bow after hunting in a rain? Wipe with a towel? Oil on the Allen heads? Is there a scent free oil? Thanks
sticknstring
Yes, dry down and oil all the screw heads and any other other parts that are prone to rust. There are several odorless oil pens on the market. Do this on a regular basis and your rig will look new years from now. Everyone should have one in their archery tackle box! Gus
I usually wipe it all down, let air dry, and use a q-tip with a little string wax to do the lubing of allen heads and such.
Wanderer
Make sure you keep your string waxed well not only to keep fraying to a minimum but to keep the water out.Had a 30 yard yard shot die on me once during a rainy Ripley hunt. The deer was standing just like my target decoy in the yard - practiced the shot a thousand times. At the release, my bow just felt dead and the arrow went just under the deers chest.Dried the bow out in the sun for the day after, then shot for a while until my bow "came back in". I've been religious about wax ever since. I changed that string out at my first chance though.I also have a large bag of silica gel desiccant I keep in my hard case to manage extra moisture. I always have an oil pen in my gear case as well.
