Sucker Minnow prices

Wow i havent fished with sucker minnows for muskies for about 6 years now cuz ive been using bullheads. I see decoy prices are hoovering around 7 ta 8 bux a decoy now days. thankfully ive never needed to use decoys for muskies but now they charge 3.50 for what they call heavy suckers, that usta be decoy prices. ya usta get a dozen large suckers for 6 ta 7 bux. that just out ways the reward for me when i can go troll all day with my fuel efficent motor for pennies on the dollar. ill stick ta bullheads i supose

Its fall boys, and live bait is in full effect got to big pike yesterday and a 45inch muskie on millacs. Caught 3 trolling on tonka a few days prior. god love late septmner

I thought the 7 dollar "musky suckers" at gander mountain were a bit ridiculous the other day. But, on the other hand they did have "medium" suckers for like 6 bucks a dozen, which beats 84 bucks a dozen for the big mammas. There were some decent sized ones in there. Always have options if you don't need the biggest and baddest bait they're selling.

I'll pay $7 for a good 15"er+ but that would be pretty steep for 12"er. Someone told me that the ponds in Western MN were down this year? I've heard it from 2 different people.

By using the bigger suckers and suitable lift-off rigs (like a Shumway EZ Duzzit), you reduce the chances of the fish getting gut hooked because they swallowed the bait. Just let the fish t-bone the bait, add a little pressure so the fish swims away from you and them let 'em have it! I love dragging suckers in the fall

I think it might be a little early but I know of a few that have been caught already this year on suckers. Suckers will be a lil spendy this year as well. I have heard that there was a little bit of a shortage and the ones you will most likely be getting will be the larger 18-20" suckers. Perfect! Will see how things turn out. Rumors. BTW I was paying $10 a sausage last fall until I had enough and just shelled out $100 in advance and was able to get em for $8. It does get spendy when you are buying 5 suckers every morning.
