Hi everyone newbie here. I'm originally from Iowa but have lived in Texas for about 9 years. I love fishing especially bass fishing. I was interested in how the anglers up north fish compared to the anglers down south. I'm sure I will learn a lot from some of the great anglers who visit this forum. Btw how do I post photos? I'm extremely technically challenged, lol!

Welcome.

There's not much here for Creek channels, flooded timber or current from the dams to fish. Mostly natural lakes up here. Like others have said, weeds are your friend. Rocks, docks and laydowns mixed with weeds are good too.

Guess I never fished Texas, but I watch alot of bass fishing on TV and what they fish down there!

Yeah, you read "A Day on the Water" in Bassmaster and without fail they are fishing some reservoir in the south with flooded timber, creek channels and shad. Hard to relate what you read there to lakes up here since, like others have said, we have mostly natural likes and fish relate heavily to weeds, rock and docks.

I live on Canyon Lake between San Antonio and Austin. It is a highland style reservoir with some flooded timber and very rocky with some deep ledges. Its a very difficult lake to fish especially in the summer when temps are over 100 degrees keeping the water temps near or above 90 degrees. It also has a moderate population of smallies and a good population of largies, stripers, and white bass and cats. The water is also very clear most of the time and moderately clear the rest of the time. I fish mostly soft plastics either Texas rigged or Carolina rigged but have been experimenting lately with the dropshot. My problem is I fish from a Jon boat and boat control can be a problem. I joined this site knowing we fish different types of waters but that I could learn a lot from you guys. I believe you can never have too much fishing knowledge. Besides my family all lives in Iowa and Minnesota so when I make it up there ill be ready!
