Minn Kota plug and receptacle

Fish Head

Question

I'm replacing my 24V, 2005 PD80 with a new Terrova 80. There are 4 wires that come from my batteries to the back of the receptacle. Than there are 4 prongs that connect the plug and receptacle. I want to replace the plug and receptacle because they are worn, but I can't find any new receptacles that have 4 wires.

It's probably an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but unfortunately that's not me. What do I do?

The minkota only needs two wires. Connect the batteries in series in the battery compartment and run a Positive (red) and negative (black) to the receptacle (you can use the red and black that are already run.) Ignore the other wires. Connect the red and black from the trolling motor to the pins on the plug corresponding to the pins on the receptacle. If there are only two pins that make it easier.

The terrova has no use for the 12 volts that is currently in your receptacle. That is a hangover from the days of 12/24 volt trolling motors.
