Neighbor_guy
I am on my way to NE Nebraska the first week in October to do some put and take phesant hunting with family. Then it will be 4 days of self guided coyote calling. Planing on heading out to the sand hills in the NW corner of the state.Any tips or tricks for a MN boy in the western plains? I dont have any experience out there having only hunted them in MN. Places to stay? Things I should not miss? Normal weather conditions for the first week in Oct?thanks.NG
prov1900
I live in the state, but haven't spent much time in the northwest part. What city/town are you thinking of hanging by? Weather "normally" is pretty warm yet in the first week of October. But this year, who knows?
Neighbor_guy
I am starting out in Verdigre, then heading west towards Valentine. I havent planed on going all the way to Oglala, but it has come up in conversation.
prov1900
Valentine is cool. Cowboy town, with a few pine trees mixed in. Good fishing there between Merrit Reservoir and the Refuge Lakes. Can't tell you about the coyotes, but I am not much of a coyote hunter. If you need a good place to contact for info on the area check out the Merrit Trading Post. They are on-line.
