I am new to motorcycles -- but I am 43 YO. A guy I work with will sell me his 1988 750 virago for 1200. Do I even want something that old? It has the skinny tires and I don't really like the style very much -- but a starter bike or will I have a tough time re-selling it?

I am looking to ride around town -- mostly.

Thanks

That is what I am thinking.

He brought over the bike and it is nice but when A BUDDY rode it it was ok but when i tried it would not go into great without dying -- the clutch and trottle needs some adjusting but is minor -- the battery also died so i had to charge it.

To me God was telling me something ... Not this bike.

Lots of good bikes out there if you shop around. I got a 2001 V-star 1100 Classic with 25,000 miles for $3000. Had windshield, bags, and pipes. Might have been a little big for a starter bike but I couldn't pass it up.

Like others have said, the time of year is coming up where a lot of good used bikes will go on sale as people don't want to store them all winter if they are going to get a new one next year. Take your time if your just getting into it to see what type of riding you will be doing and which bike will fit the bill. Have fun looking. wink
