mngundog
I am finishing a 6x12 Yeti house with pine, do you guys paint or lacquer the back side of it before installing it? Also Yeti's require a second layer of foam, does this get adhered onto the back layer or just held into place with the pine? I have already cut the foam and it fits in pretty tight and I have put plywood backing in place for bunks/shelves. Layer of plastic before the pine? Lip_Ripper Guy
On the Yetti you'll want to use a vapor barrier (poly). I would personally put insulation horizontally, between the furring strips. I've never done anything on the back side of the tongue and groove, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.
Greenhornet84
Gundog where did you get your pine t&g. Thinking about having it horizontal in our 6.5 x12 v. were just using pink polystyrene insulation in between our 2 x3 studs so well just put it up with no vapor barrier. Also what do you think it cost you to do the inside in pine if you don't mind.
mngundog
I bought it at Menards, I had planned on going with ceder but they were completely out. Mine is 6 1/2 x 12 with a v front, if I have it figured out right I think it going to cost about $400 for the pine, I believe the ceder would have only costed about $100 more. I believe I need 29 packs at $15 a pack then there is a 11% rebate this week. I was planning on putting it on vertically so I will have 1-1 1/2 ft of scrap on each piece, if you on going horizontally, you might get by for less. hawkeye43
When I did my 8.5x16 with a V front house with the pine from Menards, I ran it at an angle to get the least amount of waste. It makes the house look deeper than it is. Its a little more work but in the end I think it looks better. Not the best detail but you get the idea.--------------/////////////--------------

mngundog
If you wait, about every 6 weeks the pine is buy one get one free. I had been waiting patiently for three or four months for them to do that deal, and it didn't happened, so I bit the bullet. I imagine next week they will do it. Dahitman44
what does it cost to do this? How much weight does it add?
forcedtowork
The cost isn't bad, I was able to purchase mine when Menards had their buy one get one sale. They run it periodically, my next one will be cedar so I don't have to stain it, that will save time and money. It doesn't add a lot of wieght in the grand scheme of things. I still ahve 10 packages of pine left from whne I did mine last year.
