Laminate Flooring pad?

I've used the felt (cheapest) and it's fine on top of wood but wouldn't use the cheapy stuff on slab and if you do you have to lay down plastic first and then have two steps. I've used the white roll out too. I just finished a floor with this new folded (accordion style) blue foam w/ built in moisture barrier/reflector stuff. Anyway- the reason I liked it is because you can just lay out a row in front of you as you work, the seams lock together like puzzle pc's and are very easy to tape, and it's nice and easy to cut at the end near the wall. I just think it was the easiest to use/work this that I have used so far. I'm not sure but would assume it costs more than the other stuff.....

I've done two laminate flooring projects - one in our last house, and our living room in our current residence this past winter. Both were put over concrete slab.

In the first project, we used the cheap underlayment to save a couple hundred bucks. BAD idea. It felt pretty much like we were just walking on concrete.

The second time around, we bought some better quality material, and are very happy with it. There's different characteristics as far as moisture resistance, noise reduction etc. Find the mix of quality and price that works for you, but I would caution against using cheapie stuff...short term gain, long term disappointment.
