New Thread about MRR

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd start a new thread instead of adding to an already long one about "Important Reading".

As mentioned in the other thread, if you don't think MRR is all about elimnating motorized recreation, John Reynolds is in the Trib web site's "Talk" section about anything that's motorized.

"No Jet Skis in Voyageurs, on St. Croix? (20 messages)

John Reynolds - 06:47am Mar 28, 2000 CST (#17 of 20)
"It's ludicrous that the motorheads HAVE to have access to every bit of water and woods in our state. They insist on this with no regard for others and the environment. Just like the snowmobiler that told me if we don't like him jumping our driveways or making extra shoveling we should move.

People across the state are fed up with this type of attitude and are joining a group call Minnesotans for Responsible Recreation to take back some of our right to peace and quiet.
As far as pollution goes recreation vehicles produce 25% of the hydrocarbons produced in our country. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if a jet-ski doesn't produce more pollution than a semi. The EPA released a report last winter that said they produced 100+ times as much pollution as an auto."

A Jet Ski producing more pollution than a semi truck? Come on. Classifying anyone who enjoys something with a motor as a "motorhead".

In the "Superior Hiking Trail being attacked"
TALK forum, there's 4 messages, each from John Reynolds. His last states......

John Reynolds - 11:32am Sep 5, 1999 CST (#4 of 4)
"Other countries have their art, their history, their architecture, but we... have our wilderness!"
I'm surprised that more hikers aren't responding to this threat to the Trail. I suppose that is an indication of how few people even know about the OHV system planning that is taking place."

Do ya think that maybe the answer is that there AREN'T any hikers using that trail?

There's only one mission of MRR and it's peace and quiet.

I AM SICK OF THEESE YOGURT SPROUT EATING
BASTARDS. COMPLAINING. THEY SAY WE ARE SELFISH, YET ALL THEY DO IS TRY TO REGULATE HOW WE HAVE FUN FOR THIER BENEFIT. ASK ANY BAR OWNER HOW MUCH BUSINESS HE GETS FROM HIKERS AND BICYCLE RIDERS.

I HAVE ONLY BEEN VISITING THIS WEB SITE FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS SO I CONSIDER MY SELF NEW. YESTERDAY I WAS RELIEVED TO LOOK UNDER ATV USERS AND FIND OUT THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SICK OF THESE **** ENVIRONMENTALISTS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT BLEEDING HEART JERK WHO DID THAT STAR TRIB ARTICLE. WE HAVE A CABIN
IN CASS COUNTY, AND USED TO LOVE RIDING THE LOGGING TRAILS. WE WERE PLANNING TO HEAD UP IN LATE APRIL WITH THE WHEELERS. BUT AFTER THAT ARTICLE WE ARE AFRAID TO STIR UP ANY MORE CONTRAVERSY. ANOTHER THING THAT [PoorWordUsage]ES ME OFF IS ALL THESE JERKS WHO BUY RETIREMENT PROPERTY RIGHT OFF THE TRAILS AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT NOISE.

Dave,

Did you know that John at one point owned both a dirtbike and a snowmobile? My guest is something must have happened to him to cause the change over to MRR.

basshunter, I am just asking to find out why, not to bash you on it.
But, were the people of MMR not happy with the bill going through the senate and house? Why did they have to start another frivolus law suite right after they won their case for the ATV bill? Are these people not happy with the very bill they started? Are the ever going to be happy with out a total ban on all the out door recreational toys we Minnesotains enjoy using?
It seems to me , by starting this new law suite, it proves that they are out to ban every thing they thing is a threat to their personal veiws. We as an ATV group approved of the bill to show we care, and are willing to help. Then the MMR goes and proves that they can't hold up their end of the deal on the bill.It is all about publicity for a radical group of rich people trying to get their personal veiws forced onto the rest of us who don't have the time or money to fight back.
Thanks for your time, Benny

Benny,

Unfortunately, we share our world with individuals who thinks their ways of doing things are the only ways and everyone else have to follow their ways or else be faced with constant whinings.

MRR's ultimate goal is to eliminate all motorize usage from our natural resources so they may enjoy "peace and quiet" when and if they should use the natural resources.

Their tactic is to get the ignorant masses to sympathize with them by showing them a few ruts here and there and claiming that the ruts are rampant throughout all the ATV trails. Then, when the ignorant masses falls for their bait, they put on the slammer and claim all trails are unacceptable becuase they will cause damage to the environment in one form or another.

basshunter, thanks for the reply.I for one want to state that I agree with the current DNR TEMPERARY closing of the main state forest trails. As the wet thawing ground is very soft and the ATV's would leave a lot of ruts for the MMR people to show the media.
I would support the MMR if they were not such a radical group, I still don't understand their veiw of "peace and quiet".It isn't their woods any more than it belongs to the ATV crowd. The bill going through now would eventualy give them the areas they want for their nature walks. But they don't seem to care about anyone else, just their own little group.Man, now I am starting to sound like they did about the ATV's not caring.
It sounds like you are not as supportive of them as you were earlier, or maybe you wern't in the first place?
Well,thanks for an unbiased responce.
Benny

Benny,

Unlike some people of the mass media, I have a head on my shoulders and I use it: I do not let others (like MRR) make my decissions for me. You can say I am definitely not a supporter of MRR.

I, too, do agree with the closure of trails this time of year. What I do not agree with is the closure of trails during winter months: the ground is frozen.

I consider my self to be a Sportsman. I like going into natural resources and leave them the way they was (or as close to it as possible) when I'm done using them.

Remember, we're all in this together. Ride responsibly.

I LIKE THE REST OF YOU AM SICKENEND BY THE ACTIONS OF MRR ..I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF ATVAM FOR MANY YEARS AND HOPE TO KEEP RIDING ATV'S FOR MANY MORE..BUT IN THE LAST FEW YEARS IT SEEMS, ATVERS HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW TO RIDE RESPONSIBLY....IM SURE THE MAJORITY IS PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO THE SPORT.. BUT WE MUST ALL BE RESPONSIBLE, IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A PLACE TO RIDE..PLEASE OBEY THE LAWS,STAY ON THE TRAIL...UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD NEVER SEEN THE KINDS OF DESTRUCTION ON THE TRAILS THAT WE ARE SEEING NOW..I THINK WE NEED TO STIK WITH THE STOCK TIRES THAT CAME ON YOUR ATV WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT..THE MUD TIRES THAT ARE SO POPULAR NOW HAVE THEIR PLACE BUT I DONT FEEL THEIR PLACE IS IN "NORMAL TRAIL RIDING" AND THEY ARE NOT NEEDED...IF YOU ALL WANT TO HAVE SOMEPLACE TO RIDE THINK ABOUT IT..WE ALL KNOW HOW THEY RUT UOP THE TRAILS AND THAT IS WHERE ALOT OF THE ATV CRITICISM IS COMING FROM

i just thought i'd chime in here and see what you guys think about this. right now the ohv's including atv's are under the microscope. anything the off roaders do that is questionable behavior is just fuel to the fire of the mrr and there buddies from the star trib. it is easy to see their agenda.i am going to join an atv club in my area as so my voice can be heard, and my oppinions sorted out into useful information. i would suggest those of you who are not in a club also seek out and join. strength in numbers. i am not the club or association type, but this is pretty important. the folks we are up against have alot of time on there hands, and most of us work.i was a founding member of the original range riders atv club. i am sorry i got out of it. one thing i also have been doing is since i live in a rural area there is alot of atv, four wheel drive traffic in the area. i often see them cruising up and down the blacktop road, or tearing up soft areas.i have been stopping some of these folks on the corner, most kids, some not. i have just been approaching them with a level headed attitude, letting them know that ohv's are beeing watched right now, and to think twice about there actions, as it affects us all. i also tell them where to find out the laws on the internet, and to check out the county and township ordinances. beware they are subject to change. some of the law enforcement officials don't even know what current laws are. it can be advantageous to know the laws.
good luck to us all!------jigglestick------

the way i feel about it, if i want to dictate how a piece of land is to be used, then i had better own it! who am i to tell someone they can't hike on a piece of land owned by the county or state. who are they to think they can tell me how i am to enjoy the state land i also pay taxes on. tell me there hiking boots don't leave tracks in the dirt. hell, there are still visible trails that were walked on with mocasins over a hundred years ago! i'll show you if you like.
