Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I have two friends with these boats and they both have issues with the starter key mounting on the console loosening and rotating while trying to turn the key. Horrible design. They are always tightening the dumb thing to no avail. Anybody have a fix for this?
MuskieJunkie
I would try loctite - the blue. Or you could put a lock washer on there.Or replace the switch with a metal one that you can really crank tight.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
They are a bad design. They should have used a "D" shaped switch and hole instead of round, or maybe a pin to prevent them from rotating. Do you know if they are still made this way? What do other boat manufactures use? Mine is built right into the throttle control and it works great.
boatfixer
I run across this often. I've made knurls on the nuts, used loctite, large star washers. A little bit of gorrila glue (or similar) applied to the inside nut so it contacts the threads and the face of the nut where it contacts the back of the dash. Raider4ever
I've got a '98 1750 Fish Hawk that used to do that. Hand tightening would get me through the next trip or two. Fall of '11, l I went below the dash and tightened the nut with a wrench when I went through and checked all the nuts, bolts, screws, wires, etc. Got them good and tight without overdoing it and it hasn't happened since.
