Propane Heater

This isnt for my house this is for my hunting shack but thought I would ask you guys and see your expert advise. I have a propane heater along with an old fire place out of a mobile home. I have this in the corner and the propane heater on the opposite side of the shack (about 15' apart) my thought it to move the heater more towards the fire place so the thermostat kicks off when the fire is going and would like that other wall open ill try and attach a few pics to see where i would mount it....

First picture is of the heater the second where that chest on the floor is sitting I would mount the heater in between those two boards and run copper to the right behind the fireplace to the exterior tank...

My first thought is that you should put something up behind the stove as a fire block. The paneling could get awfully hot with the setup you have.

It looks like you don't have any power. A shack that I visited had the same situation and they wired it with 14 gauge wire and hooked up 2 deep cycle batteries. There were two 60 watt lights, a fan on the stove, and a car radio. There was also a fan up in the rafters. Maybe you could set things up like that and get the air less stratified. The two batteries were more than enough juice for a 4 day hunt with 5 guys.

Another thing that was set up was a shower - the best. Propane turkey heater with a 15 gallon steel drum. A bung was installed on the bottom side of the drum and a 12 vDc motor home water pump installed. I 15 foot piece of hose and a pistol nozzle. The outdoor lead for a thermometer was put in the water and once it got to 110 degrees we could shower up pretty well. Very nice after a day in the stand.

Tom,

Thanks for your input I was a little nervious about the stove and all that but doesnt seem to get too terribly hot we just have a little fire in there every onve and awhile.

I was thinking about doing that and or a generator but think were going to keep it that off the grid feel and just get some nice Humphrey propane lights and do it that way use only propane....

Yes a shower would be nice after a 4-5 day hunt the wife wants nothing to do with me until I take a shower lol

I guess that I would still put a couple pieces of cement board behind the stove. Never know when guest is going to go overboard stoking the fire. The nice thing about the electric bulbs is no noise, no heat and they're on when you throw the switch.

The shower thing was the best idea of the whole shack. Small tub and shower curtain with a drain out the side of the building. The hose even reached the sink and so dishes were a snap.

Doesn't matter if you only use the stove a little bit. Someone at some time will use it more.

Cement board starting 6" off the floor and ending a foot or two above the height of the stove. Don't fasten it tight to the wall. Create an air gap between the wall and board using furring strips. The Blue flame propane heater, I'd eventually replace it with a wall mount

vented furnace. As far as moving it closer to the wood stove, I don't see why you couldn't. You cold also move it further away and use both to warm the cabin faster.

When not needed turn it off.
