World Record Released in WI

I would say that is partially right,  but I bet it is more like he didn’t care (at the time).      Musky season wasn’t open when he caught the fish so no matter what, he had to release it anyways (legally).    I bet if he had caught it and it was open season and someone suggested it was a potential record, that fish would be dead (just my opinion).

Tom, I was using a little humor when I referred to holding a fish.  Anyone that has held a 60+ pound fish knows what a struggle it is and a lot of times you see some funny facial expressions, guys sitting down with them on their lap, or their body is all contorted trying to get in position.  None of which I see in this picture.

People are confusing any negativity towards the fish being a potential record as general negativity towards the fish.  Its an awesome fish and most likely bigger than most all of us will ever catch in our lives.  It’s a fish of a lifetime!  However look at the video with the tape measure in his hands (clue #1) and then compare the fish in question to the O’Brien fish or any other documented fish in that range (clue #2) and to me its crystal clear that the fish wouldn’t have broken any world records.

Also people shouldn’t be challenging the angler, they should be challenging the bait shop.  They are the ones that started the whole buzz and I agree in thinking they really were just looking out for themselves with all the publicity stuff.  Notice how excited the bait shop guy was at the end of the video talking about getting Musky Hunter and The Gazette out to cover the story
