Portable A/C vs. Evaporative Air Cooler

Mid-Lake Rock

Question

I'm going to use my wheel house as a camper this summer. I'm leaning toward a portable A/C unit, but wanted to know if anyone has an opinion on an evaporative air cooler. I think the A/C will be better because it will get any humidity out of the house.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

I think the lowest temp by evaporative cooling would relate to the wet bulb temperature. Which, in my limited understanding, is typically higher than dew point but lower than dry bulb temp.

There is a difference. You can calculate any of the three from the other two. I learned something.

thanks

Living in AZ, many homes have both the cooler and A/C. So in the spring, when the monsoon is not in place, the evap works great. however after the first rain storm or when the humidity goes up, they are just a hot fan. So if you have both, you put a plate that blocks the air input and switch over to AC so you do not pump the cold air out the cooler.

I will take AC over a swamp cooler anyway.
