Rick G
Given the choice between the two as cut bait, what would you rather use, white sucker or redhorse?
SteveD
Which ever one I can catch. Tonight I caught a nice redhorse and 2 good sheepshead. They all made great cut bait. If you can catch it so can they. They will eat whatever you offer them - provided they are hungry. The trick is to put the bait in front of an eating channel cat or flathead. Gordie
I have used both and can't say which one was better or that I would have a preference of one over the other. I guess I would go with SteveD's answer, what ever I could catch
Shack
As an extensive user of both white and red-horse suckers I guess it would depend. First off I agree with Steve and that the best cut bait to use is what you can catch in the area you are fishing and is still a legal bait to cut up and use. Match the hatch so to speak. Now if I was given a only one choice of which type of sucker to use it would be white. Just an overall easier bait to work with and it has been a tried and true cut and live option that has produced the most fish but mainly because I just use it more than red-horse. Red-horse has its positives though as it last longer IMO than white sucker and you can nicer and solid chunks that do not mash up as wuick as white.
