Walnut18
Doing some research on the Ice Castle RV editions with the water tanks. Because we would like to use as a camper during the summer. I am wondering how the water tank thing works in the winter when ice fishing. Its one thing while you are fishing in it but do you have to leave the heat on all winter or drain the tanks and not use water? Just wondering how people camp with their ice castles or similar houses. Thanks for any information.
IcePro
Drain tanks, winterize lines and do not use water.Winterize just like a regular camper.
BigDogRob
+1 Drain and use RV antifreeze in the lines and be sure to run it through the shower lines and hot water tank...
B-man715
Be cautious of the frame on the new models. One of my friends bought one a couple years ago with a Berkon. It is perfect and works awesome.Another friend bought the identical shack but a model year newer. A valve failed while lowering it and sheared off the axle on one side! They came to his house and "fixed" it. Now his tires are doing the classic Ice Castle Lean...... the frame is hydraulic and nearly identical to a Berkon, but is clearly inferior. He just bought it at the ice show this winter...... it will need new tires soon and is already rusting....I have zero affiliation with any fish house or frame manufacturer. Just trying to help ya out.
Walnut18
Thanks for the replies I appreciate it, we are just starting to look at fish houses to be used as a camper as well. We have 2 young kids so are looking at something to spend time as a family both winter and summer. Pretty clueless to the whole thing so input in good for us. dougger222
Also, the covers for the holes in the ic's are cheap Chinese knock offs. BUYER BEWARE...Cheap frames, cheap covers, poor build quality, SHOP AROUND...ice castle isn't the only brand of fish house/rv's on the market. B-man715
you may want to check out the salem ice cabins. they have different models and can be used year round. Do you still have to unhook them completely from the truck or have they changed anything recently?
